Hi all,

Halloween is here which means lots of “spooky haunted house walks" around the neighborhood with my toddler.  I do the in-the-trenches work so you don't have to so here's my trauma-avoiding tip of the week.  Don't introduce your kid to a life-like Freddy Kreuger decoration if he's just warming up to touching a benign, cartoony inflatable dragon.

In other news, I uploaded all of my posts to Medium so follow me if you use the site (and listen to the articles instead of reading them).

As always, feel free to share feedback.

"Simple mindset shifts:
- I'm not hurt, I'm healing.
- I'm not losing, I'm learning.
- I was not rejected, I was redirected.
Negative things happen. Negative mindsets make them harder."

  • There's now a site called Mytavin that tells you which deficiencies you have based on medication you take.

  • Worried that your terrible sleep habits are going to put you in the grave early? Good news: A new study says that running for 75 minutes a week or walking for 150 minutes a week “'eliminated most of the deleterious associations of poor sleep with mortality.”

“The main clue that the behaviors the child is exhibiting is sensory meltdown related is that the behavior does not achieve a want, need or goal.

In the case of a sensory meltdown, having a set of strategies available through use of a sensory diet can help with sensory overload, big feelings, and reactions."

Nearing 40 years old, I'm still working on a few of these myself….
