Launch Day!

Today is the launch day of MindBodyDad!

It began with a spark back in January when I was taking time off to spend with my wife, 2-year-old son, and week-old daughter. I was looking for ways to weather the storm that are newborn nights.  As I was diving into the studies, blogs, podcasts, and books I had an idea.  Instead of consuming and organizing this info only to be used for a short time and only for my own personal benefit, why not just share it with others in the same boat?   The seed was planted.

I’m a husband, father, and occupational therapist, and I have plenty of interest in health-related areas like fitness, rehabilitation, nutrition, neurology, stress management, and happiness states.  Through a mixture of evidence-based research and self-experimentation (with an equal mix of success and failure) I’ve been hell-bent on bettering myself and my family.  So why not put this information out there so that others can learn?

MindBodyDad was born.

Through plenty of late nights and early mornings I brainstormed, wrote, and learned how to make a website.  In a way, creating this blog is analogous to the theme of the blog itself. I was disciplined, had plenty of “teachable moments” along the way, and came out of the experiment happier and more resilient while enjoying the process.

My goal is to blend OT, science, and personal insights in ways that improve the mind, the body, and relationships with others (including kids for the parents out there).

So thanks for visiting.  I look forward to reading any comments and feedback you have to help me to grow the site and provide valuable info.

Please subscribe to the newsletter (coming soon) as well.

Brian

P.S. From the get-go, I made a commitment to not let this new hobby impact the time I spend with my family so I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my wife for tolerating my sleep-deprived irritable self leading up to this day.
